Biography

Shen Guoliang, Chief Physician, works in the Department of Burns, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University. He is an M.D., Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor. He graduated from the former Suzhou Medical College in 1988; from 1994 to 1995, he studied at the National University of Singapore with funding from the International Atomic Energy Agency; he received his master's degree in 1999 and his doctoral degree in 2005. In 2010, he went to the State University of New York for further study in medical education, and in 2011, he went to the University of Texas for further study in plastic surgery.

He has received one Third Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award of the People's Republic of China, one Utility Model Patent of the People's Republic of China, one Gold Medal at the Eureka International Invention Exhibition, one Second Prize of the Ministerial-Level Science and Technology Progress Award of the China National Nuclear Corporation, one Second Prize of the Medical New Technology Introduction Award of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Health, one Suzhou Municipal Science and Technology Progress Award, and three Suzhou Municipal Science and Technology Progress Tackling Cup Awards, and was awarded a Third-Class Merit once. He has published more than 50 papers and co-authored one monograph.

He is currently undertaking one National Natural Science Foundation of China project and two provincial/ministerial-level research projects. His research on allogeneic vascular transplantation has reached the domestic leading level, and his research on chronic refractory wounds (radiation-induced skin injury, diabetic foot, chronic lower extremity ulcers, pressure sores, etc.) has reached the world advanced level.

He currently serves as a member of the IAEA Asia-Pacific Regional Surgical Tissue Bank, a member of the Chinese Medical Association, a Young Committee Member of the Burns Surgery Branch of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine, a committee member of the Burns, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Branch of the Jiangsu Association of Integrative Medicine, a member of the Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, a member of the China Medical Adhesive Association, a review expert for the Burn Surgery Specialist Training Base of the Ministry of Health, a review expert for the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province, a committee member of the Suzhou Burn, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Branch, and a committee member of the Suzhou Hand Surgery Branch, among others.

His professional specialties include burn surgery, plastic surgery, aesthetic surgery, hand surgery, and microsurgery. He is skilled in the treatment of burns and scalds caused by various causes and in the prevention and treatment of scars caused by trauma; the treatment of chronic refractory wounds (radiation-induced skin injury, diabetic foot, chronic lower extremity ulcers, pressure sores, etc.); facial rhytidectomy, double eyelid surgery, eye bag removal, liposuction, breast augmentation, reduction mammoplasty, and breast reconstruction (immediate or delayed breast reconstruction after mastectomy). He is also skilled in hymenoplasty, radical treatment of axillary osmidrosis, replantation of severed fingers, emergency and late-stage repair of hand injuries, trauma repair (repair of skin and soft tissue defects caused by traffic accident trauma, repair of severe burns and electrical injuries, in situ replantation of avulsed scalp injuries, etc.), and rehabilitation therapy.
